Big Denton Buck Located With Drone

At Delmarva Drone Deer Recovery, we take immense pride in our successful searches. Here’s the story of Corey Sensenig and the Nine Point.

Corey and his family have closely observed this particular deer over the past few years. This year, the buck became a notable target. When Corey had the opportunity to take a shot, he fired from a distance of 70 yards. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to them, the rifle was off by a foot at 100 yards. The shot struck the deer in the back of the body just in front of the hindquarters. Despite tracking the deer for about 60 yards, Corey lost the blood trail after it leaped over a log.

With suspicion that the deer might have sought refuge in a dense section of their woods, making it challenging to find without assistance, Corey reached out to Delmarva Drone Deer Recovery. After coordinating a search time, I arrived on-site and commenced the drone search. 26 hours after the shot the thermal camera on the drone successfully picked up the heat signature after only 10 minutes. We located the buck in a thick patch of brush, confirming it to be Corey's and verifying that it had expired.

With the certainty that the buck had expired, we executed a successful recovery of the deer.
